  frequent Thunderbird crashes

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Thunderbird crashes multiple times a day for me.  I think it tends to
  be when closing a message window (either when sending a new message,
  or just clicking close button to close an existing message window) but
  despite it happening quite frequently I haven't been able to discern a
  clear pattern or reliably reproduce it.  The GUI simply disappears,
  the underlying process is still active (so to remedy I have to kill
  that process and then restart).

  I'm on an up-to-date 14.04 LTS, it's been doing this for many weeks
  (i.e., not a brand new update that caused it).
