[Bug 1424062] Re: Disk suddenly became unaccesible (all of it)

What you describe sounds like some sort of error caused the filesystem
to be remounted read/only. Unfortunately, that prevents recording the
logs of what happened which were lost when you rebooted. Without that,
further diagnosis won't be possible. For now I would suggest fscking
the filesystem to make sure it does not contain any errors currently and
if this happens in the future, run dmesg and you should see the cause of
the error even though it is not recorded to disk.

Title:
Disk suddenly became unaccesible (all of it)

Status in udisks2 package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
My apologies for the lack of information, but I could not report this
bug until I restarted my computer. I suddenly could only use my
programs already loaded in memory. There was no way to write anything
on disk. Trying to open a program from the terminal would crash-close
the terminal if the program required to write to disk. Chrome didn't
allow downloads. OpenOffice wouldn't let me save documents. At restart
I got a message that /tmp was unaccesible, I chose the "F" (fix)
option and it got solved. But I lost a lot of files due to this issue.
