keyboard stay in US altough French selected system wide

Bug description:
I selected French keyboard during the install process.
Then the keyboard is still US when I'm logged into XFCE.
Note than the keybord is properly configured in a virtual console
CTRL-ALT-F(1..6).
I tried to configure french into the language selector system wide but
it doens't work.
