I cannot test this here, as I was just helping an user during an
impromptu install party.
As I don't find any reports from other users on Google, I assume they
either had no problems, or have given up in the meantime, so I think
this report can be closed.

Title:
[Toshiba Satellite Pro N10] Black screen during boot
Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I helped a user set up his Toshiba Satellite Pro N10 during FOSDEM (so
I cannot easily do further tests).
Default installation of saucy from USB media, after reboot, screen
turns purple for five seconds, then black (backlight off). No logo is
shown on purple background.
Forums suggest that backlight control and kernel mode switching on
this hardware do not work together well. Disabling kernel mode switch
and removing "quiet" and "splash" options shows normal boot, but X
refuses to start (Screens present but no usable configuration).
