[Bug 1429445] Re: multiple LibreOffice icons on the launch bar
After a reboot, the behavior changed: there was no icon initially (as opposed to one LibreOffice Calc icon when LibreOffice was not running which was before the reboot). When I oppened one xls file, one LibreOffice Calc icon appeared. When I opened two more ods files, two icons appeared for each one: one LibreOffice Calc icon and one LibreOffice 4.4 icon. When I closed the original xls, its one LibreOffice Calc icon disappeared with 4 other icons remaining.
The attached screenshot shows these 4 icons that control two ods files.
When I reopened the same xls again, another two icons appeared similarly to the ods files (one LibreOffice Calc icon and one LibreOffice 4.4 icon).
When I opened a doc file, just one more LibreOffice 4.4 icon appeared.
Weird.

Title:
multiple LibreOffice icons on the launch bar
Status in bamf package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
LibreOffice 4 creates too many icons in the launch bar.
When LibreOffice is not running, there is one LibreOffice Calc icon that cannot be removed.
When I open one ods file, another LibreOffice Calc icon appears in the
launch bar which opens the window with the open file. The original
icon opens a new LibreOffice Calc window with Untitled.
When I open more ods files, sometimes more LibreOffice Calc icons
appear in the launch bar and sometimes they are controlled by the
existing icons.
xls and text files odt and doc always create more icons (LibreOffice
Calc or LibreOffice Writer).
If I open many files, the launch bar becomes too crowded and this is
inconvenient.
LibreOffice 3 had one icon for each application (LibreOffice Calc,
LibreOffice Write, etc.) which could be removed when the application
is not running, or be Locked to Launcher. I think this is the
appropriate behavior.
I installed LibreOffice 4 using the following directions:

libreoffice-44-on.html
LIbreOffice team thinks it is a Unity bug:
