Title:
mozilla crash reporter prevents laptop from going into
  freeze/hibernate

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Every now and then, whenever closing the lid on this laptop, Firefox
experiences a crash. This in turn launches the Mozilla Crash Reporter.
Whenever that is launched during the transition to freeze or
hibernate, Mozilla Crash Reporter prevents the laptop from going into
freeze or hibernate. Instead, the laptop remains powered up until the
tool has finished gathering its backtrace and sent the bug report. The
lid then needs to to be open and closed again for freeze or hibernate
to take place. This is is an extremely serious issue, because if the
user doesn't notice that the laptop hasn't succeeded at going into
freeze/hibernate, it will end up overheating during transport.
