[Bug 1026159] [NEW] Samsung scx4100 no more recognised as scanner
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Samsung scx4100 is a relativelly old but very successful scanner/ laser printer made by Samsung and it's the first of a serie of devices almost identical, where Samsung seems to just change their design and name every year (scx4200, scx4300... scx4600).
This kind of devices were initially available to Linux users trough installation of Samsung own drivers, however recent ubuntu releases got able to plug-and-play them, both for printing and scanning (e.g. with simple-scan).
While scx4200 or scx4300 still works in this way, on my Ubuntu 12.04 the Samsung scx4100 is no longer available as scanner (but it still plug-and-play as printer).
As scx4100 for best of my knowledge is tecnically pretty the same as the other cited printers/scanners of the serie, I guess it just miss entry in some sort of "supported devices" list.
I am available for further informations if needed.
Kind regards and thank you.
Antonello
