[Bug 1187009] Re: Apps like Spotify/Nevernote crash lightdm ending my session abruptly
It happens for me too with an Intel integrated video card. The error
occurs when spotify tries to load advertisements or the header part for
a playlist. I don't know if the error is connected to the video driver
at all. Im on ubuntu 14.10.

Title:
Apps like Spotify/Nevernote crash lightdm ending my session abruptly
Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-313-updates package in Ubuntu:
Opinion
Bug description:
So launching apps like Spotify/Nevernote kills my session and restarts
to the Ubuntu login screen. The whole system doesn't restart, just
lightdm.
This also happens with for example Ubuntu One login through settings
menu when I click sign in. It works until I click sign in then it
crashes to Ubuntu login screen.
I'm not sure what extra details I can provide for this kind of a crash
as the behavior seems quite random. I have the proprietary Nvidia
drivers installed.
Ubuntu 64bit 13.04
Nvidia GeForce 320M/integrated/SSE2 - Driver: nvidia-313-updates
Macbook 7,1
I've checked a bunch of log files in /var/log but can't see anything
that might give a clue. Everything seems to work fine that does work.
For example, I can play TF2 in Steam natively with no issues. I can
run Spotify through WINE with no issues and I can run Netflix-Desktop
with no issues. Opera/Chromium etc... all work fine. I can run
Android-Studio with no issues so I'm not sure what causes the
applications above to crash but it is quite a shock when launching an
app and all of a sudden your left at your login screen if you had
something important open.
