  Menu Shortcut Key Mapping Conflict

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  The alt key is mapped to "S" for both "Insert Smiley" and "Show
  Contact List" under the "Conversation" menu while in a chat room in
  IRC. This makes selecting either using keyboard shortcuts impossible.
