Message is still the same in xubuntu 14.04.2 using brasero.
It is misleading. I cancelled the process and the disc came out just as fine.

  "Creating image checksum" message not informative anough

  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: brasero

  brasero 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
  Ubuntu 9.04

  I burned an ISO file to a DVD+RW.

  After burning there was a step labeled "Creating image checksum".
  This is not very clear (unless you are an experienced brasero user).

  As I understand, it is reading back the disc content to verify the
  burn was without errors.

  The message should be changed to be more clear.

  Users care "what" is done (verification), not "how" it is done (by
  computing and comparing a checksum - I guess).
