Title:
  gnome-panel crashes when starting Unity 3D engine steam game - signal
  5 in _XReply()

Status in gnome-panel package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  This bug is a followup to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
  /gnome-panel/+bug/1201095 with attached crash report.

  The game where I observe this is Magicite, however it seems to be the
  case for other steam games as well (see other bug report).

  I run gnome-flashback session with compiz on Ubuntu 14.04.

  When the game starts, the panel crashes and disappears. I have to
  restart it manually in a shell (it does not automatically respawn).

  To report this bug I also had to use the workaround given here:
