Title:
False SMART data given on hard drives
Status in gnome-disk-utility package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
With any hard disk that I plug in via SATA on my PC that supports
SMART technology, the Gnome Disk Utility, no matter how many runing
hours the disk has had, will tell me that every single attribute has a
"Pre-Fail" or "Old-Age" type, which I know is completely untrue
especially because of the fact that I have tried this over and over
again on multiple PCs and multiple Hard Disks.
Maybe the Disk Utility just isn't calibrated correctly for modern
disks?
