Title:
screen brightness arrows no longer work after disconnecting external
  monitor

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Noticed after disconnecting external monitor today that the Fn-Left and Fn-Right keys, which normally
  1) Trigger the display of a sun icon with a progress bar of the amount of supposed brightness the screen is supposed to have
  2) actually changes the amount of brightness that the screen is supposed to have

currently only does (1) (ie not (2)).
