I work with Eclipse Indigo on Ubuntu 12.04. Lately (September 2012) it
started to hang. It happens sometimes when I click with right-mouse
button inside the Eclipse window. All windows and Launchpad are not
responding. Only command launcher (after Alt button) can be enabled, but
nothing can be keyed in.

It is possible to recover the session by killing the java process
running eclipse from the terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F1).

I'm using Unity 2D. Eclipse is installed locally in the user's home
directory (without a package). CPU is not very busy when the problem
occurs.
