Was this bug repaired? Cause I'm having the same problem with pppoeconf.
It gives a segmentation fault when is searching for network address
concentrator and stops at 6%. It's the same bug...

  Confirmed

Bug description:
  trying to form my connection pppoe by means of pppoeconfig, identifies
  to me that I have 1 Ethernet device eth0, but at the time of the
  search of a concentrator of PPPoE access in eth0 does not advance of
  the 100%
