  /usr/bin/X -core :1 -seat seat0 -auth /var/run/lightdm/root/:1 -nolisten tcp vt8 -novtswitch on command line gives same issue. ctrl-alt-delete sometimes causes reboot, otherwise i need to remove a/c and battery

  problem is new following 14.04 upgrade (lightdm is new to 14.04)
