Please provide
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems#USB_printer and try
the usb backend /dev/usb/lp0 instead of the hp(lip) one
(http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/fedora/hp1020.html). Does that work?

  This was working, and there was no apparent reason for change,
  although updates may have been applied since printer last used
