Title:
software center is unable to install software after fresh 12.10 disto
install - line 194, in _get_new_xapiandb
Status in software-center package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
after I installed the ISO on the machine, I tried to install software
with the software center. This failed. I ran the software updater and
this corrected the problem. Perhaps apt-get update should be run at
first boot or some other command. Or instead of failing software
center could run this as part of it's install process if needed. Or
the error message could have a "run software update now?" button or ?
This problem may vanish if there are at least some post ISO spin
updates found during install.
What is the likelyhood of a user wanting to install right after
install? It could be quite high. Many people have favourite SW they
know the distro does not include and so for them installing it is part
of the ISO install process.
