Title:
maverick unknown screen and external monitor not detected
Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: xorg
Trying to connect my laptop computer to an external monitor. The
screen is simply duplicated and I can't change this via Monitor
Preferences.
When opening the System -> Preferences -> Monitor, the monitor of my
laptop is unknown, 'Same image' is greyed out, refresh rate is zero,
and I only have the choice for one resolution.
With xrandr the attached monitor is not detected:
xrandr -q
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 1024 x 768, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768
default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm
1024x768 0.0*
When booting with editing grub: i915.modeset=0, the Monitor
Preferences gives more resolutions, but no image appears on attached
monitor.
