Title:
laptop does not "thaw" following "hibernate" -- twin laptop works fine
Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
I reported this bug against "gnome-power-manager" for lack of a better
place to hang the problem. I use the gnome panel to request either
suspend or hibernate processing
I have two essentially identical laptops -- Lenovo Thinkpad X61tablet
(7764CTO) -- built six months apart. There are minor hardware
differences. Both run Ubuntu Lucid with current updates and similar
set of packages.
The laptop used to prepare this bug report fails to "thaw" after a suspend-to-disk "hibernate" request.
I cannot discover if the "hibernate" processing is troubled resulting the the failure to "thaw."
Everything I can see tells me that the failing system performs a cold-start instead of a restart-after-hibernate.
Both laptops will suspend-to-ram "suspend" and restart-from-suspend
"resume" without error.
Both laptops appear to complete suspend-to-disk "hibernate"
processing without error.
I confess that I don't know how to see much more of what is happening during the power-on system start process.
I cannot interpret what I read in files from /var/log/pm* . I will attach them to this bug as soon as I get a clean set without a lot of stray or repeated events.
I welcome instructions about additional details to configure, collect
and report on this matter.
Thanks,
~~~ 0;-Dan
