Title:
Volume keys on keyboard don't adjust volume or display volume popup
  while using gnome fallback/flashback

Status in gnome-session package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Pressing the volume up/down keys or play button doesn't adjust volume.
Previous Ubuntu versions would display a popup showing the current
volume, or a popup indicating that volume had just been muted. I'm not
sure if indicator-sound is the right package, but it seems the
  closest.
