Title:
Strange window behavior after 'low batteri' mouse event

Status in “metacity” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I get some strange window behavior every time my wireless mouse sends an 'low batteri' event. The behaivor is a bit hard to describe, but I will try anyway:
It is kinda like only one window is allowed to be active at a time. By 'active' I mean usable. So whenever it happens only one window can be used e.g. I can only manipulate the content of the window not the title bar or the buttons in the title bar, and not the menubar of Gnome or any of the other applets in the Gnome-menu.
Whenever it happens the only way to get back control is to close the current window so the next window in line becomes the 'active' window, until no more windows are open, and the desktop becomes the active 'window' so I am able to log-out, which solves the problem (probably because X is restarted, but that is just a guess)
Alt-tab does not work either, so the strange behavior is not limited to mouse-input.

The problem began doing the 9.10 beta-phase, but only just recently I
have been able to determine the cause of the problem (i.e. my mouse),
because I two times in a row experienced the problem just after seing
  an "Low batteri" notification.

Relevant output from dmesg, when the error occurs:
[896684.919676] hub 6-0:1.0: port 1 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling...
  [896684.919681] usb 6-1: USB disconnect, address 4
[896685.259560] usb 6-1: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
  [896685.437703] usb 6-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

If my explanation was not completely clear, fell free to ask me to
  elaborate.
