Title:
Output Volume slider bar legend is misleading
Status in “gnome-media” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-media
The 100% label on the top Output Volume slider bar in the Sound
Preferences control panel is misleading.
I interpreted the label to be a value linked to the setting of the bar
--I could see the slider tab all the way to the right (encompassing
100% of the slider,) so logically the volume is at 100% output as
shown in the label.
But, after months of occasionally distorted sound output, I've finally
discovered that the meaning of the 100% label is to mark a point on
the slider, rather than to reflect the value of the slider.
My expectation is that the UI would clearly represent the value of the
Output Volume.
In this case, I think that could be done by creating a different label that shows the output volume percentage programmatically.
I would remove the current 100% label, or make the delineation between 100% output and points further the the right (where output distortion are likely to occur) far more apparent.
