[Bug 1455986] Re: US (international, with dead keys) keyboard layout does not print accented letters: keys are not dead

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in gnome-settings-damon.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

** Package changed: ubuntu => gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)

Title:
  US (international, with dead keys) keyboard layout does not print
  accented letters: keys are not dead

Status in gnome-settings-daemon package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I'm running Ubuntu 15.04, but this problem happened in Ubuntu 14.10
  too, AFAIK.

  The problem does not happen on Ubuntu 14.04.

  Using the US (international, with dead keys) keyboard layout, I should
  be able to write é by pressing the single quote ( ' ) key, after that,
  the e key.

  Whenever I do this in Ubuntu 15.04, the 'dead' key is not dead;
  instead it immediately prints the ´ sign. That means that when I try
  to write é, I'll get: ´e.

  This happens for other letter combinations, too, for instance: ´o, ´a,
  ¨e, ¨u.

  I found out that I can type é by pressing AltGr + e, but I'd rather
  have the dead keys working again.

  I found this bug hard to report using ubuntu-bug or apport-bug, so let me know if I can help you by running some commands.
