Anton Kanishchev, xorg-lts-quantal is EOL as of August 2014. For more on
this, please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack .

Title:
Unconnecting hdmi cable from port causes lock up and screen corruption
Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
the laptop connected to an external display, it is driving only the
external display when attached. if the hdmi cable is removed whilst
lid is closed, upon opening the lid computer locks up- display does
not come on. if lid is opened beforehand and the hdmi cable is
removed, it causes system to crash, displaying screen corruption,
being unresponsive to any input(capslock on /of virtual terminal etc).
*****UPDATE 20 Mar 2013****
It seems that simply entering a virtual console, and trying to revert back to the gui (ctrl+alt +f7, without reloading lightdm) also crashes the system , causing screen corruption.
