an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(2201). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Title:
  Parts of screen out of view

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  The extreme edges of the screen are out of view.  For example, the
  icons on the far left of my screen (system settings and fire fox for
  example) are cut off.  I am using a VISIO 26 inch TV screen with an
  HDMI interface to my AMD video card.  I have tried various screen
  resolutions and sizes available, but have not found on that solves the
  problem.
