[Bug 1460483] Re: File Properties "Open-With" Won't Set Default

The issue is with Google-Chrome.

I purged Chrome, rebooted and was able to set the default for the xml
file to gedit.

After installing chrome again, the same behavior of chrome stealing the
default and not allowing any change continued.

Title:
File Properties "Open-With" Won't Set Default

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
It used to work, but now I'm trying to associate gedit with a .contact (xml) file and it won't switch from Google Chrome as the default.
  Right-mouse on .contact file
  Click "Open-With"
  Select "gedit" (related applications)
  Click "Set as default"
The highlighted selection switches to the current Default Application that is Google-Chrome and doesn't switch to gedit.
