  Thunderbird cannot access Google Contacts

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  HOW TO REPRODUCE
  1. In Thunderbird, install the Google Contacts add-on. And restart Thunderbird.
  2. When you are prompted to write your Google password, do so.

  RESULT
  - The password screen keeps popping up because the password being rejected.

  ROOT CAUSE
  - The authorization API used by the add-on has been deprecated (http://tinyurl.com/pknfgrw).
  - So the current API needs to be implemented (http://tinyurl.com/pknfgrw).

  RELEVANT INFORMATION
