[Bug 411242] Re: Links to folders on unmounted partitions pretend they are broken
Still here in 15.04 !!!
The problem is very sensible in the case of USB keys:
When the key inserted is not the right one, the link to the USB file
appears as broken and the default action is "delete the link" which is
rather misleading.
At least "broken link" should have a special icon.

Links to folders on unmounted partitions pretend they are broken
instead of mounting the partition.
Steps to reproduce:
Mount a partition[1], create a link on the Desktop pointing to a folder on that partition, unmount the partition. Then try to open the link on the Desktop - it will tell you it is a broken link.
Opening the link should mount the partition if it is not already
mounted.
[1] I have tested only with NTFS partitions and an up-to-date Ubuntu
