Title:
  No sound (card not recognized)

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Is hopefully contained in the report that was sent.
It is an on-board audio-device. In crunchbang 9.x it was reported as a hda_codec: unknown model for ALC883, trying to auto-probe from BIOS. And that worked!!
In edubuntu 11.04 (installed) and from live-CD edubuntu 11.10 sound is not working. Here the card is recognized as an Azalia hdac VT1708/A

Whenever i perform a sudo alsa force-reload, the messages just hang in the terminal without ever 'ending'.
I have to break it with Ctrl + C.
