[Bug 612342] Re: software-center removes banshee without mono runtime

Hi yurik81, thanks for the report, and sorry for the very slow response.

Since Ubuntu 11.04, Banshee is installed by default, so I can't
reproduce this bug as described, and I'm not sure exactly what the
problem is.

Are you suggesting that if I install and then remove something using
apt-get, its unique dependencies are marked for auto-removal, but if I
install and then remove the same thing using USC they aren't? To test
this, I just installed and then removed Evolution using USC, and then
ran apt-get autoremove. It correctly found the unique dependencies
(bogofilter bogofilter-bdb bogofilter-common evolution-common evolution-
webcal libevolution libgtkhtml-4.0-0 libgtkhtml-4.0-common libgtkhtml-
editor-4.0-0). So that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Or are you proposing that USC should perform the equivalent of an "apt-
get autoremove" after each removal?

Title:
software-center removes banshee without mono runtime

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: software-center

Example: package banshee depends on mono runtime. Software-center
installs mono packages in case when ones do not present in system. But
don't marks them as auto installed. As a result, software-center
removes banshee without mono runtime. You can confirm this in other
package managers like aptitude. Let me emphasize that mono wasn't
  installed in system before banshee.

  Ubuntu 10.04
