[Bug 1464103] Re: ls *[[:digit:]]? --> omits dir names in results
The behavior being described here is from the shell (whether bash or something else is unclear).
It is not relevant to xterm.
However, I notice compiz mentioned. Ubuntu has longstanding issues with that
(see http://invisible-island.net/xterm/xterm.faq.html#compiz_bugs). That also
is not a problem with xterm.

Title:
ls *[[:digit:]]? --> omits dir names in results
Status in xterm package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
ls *[[:digit:]]?
The log will show that when there are one or more FILEs that satisfy
the mask in the same working directory as a DIR that satisfies this
mask, then there is no error in the results. But if there are no
FILEs that satisfy the mask in the same working directory as a DIR
which satisfies the mask, then the DIR name is omitted from the
results. I would expect to see the DIR name first, then on
subsequent rows will be the list of files in the DIR. However, the
DIR row is omitted. Just the rows listing the files are displayed.
First result (ls *[[:digit:]]? ):
file33
dir44
fileA fileB fileC
------------------------------------------
rm file33
------------------------------------------
Second result (ls *[[:digit:]]? ):
##### "dir44" is missing from this row #####
fileA fileB fileC
