Title:
gnome-display-properties makes unnceccesary and unwanted resolution
  changes

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

When Gnome starts up, xorg has set the screen resolution to
1440x900@60Hz, which is the correct resolution and refresh rate for my
single monitor. Then for some reason, gnome uses gnome-display-
properties to change the resolution causing the screen to go black for
a second. This occurs twice during login. I have deleted
~/.config/monitors.xml and it occurs. I did not tell gnome to do this
and there is no reason for it to occur and I can't find a way to
  disable it.
