[Bug 1326572] Re: File manager does not remember "Show hidden files" option turned off
I had the same issue.
Hidden files shown on start-up.
After hiding them using CTRL-H and restart of nautilus, they where in view again.
I managed to fix this by desecting "show hidden and backup files" in EDIT-PREFERENCES-VIEWS.
After this was unselected the setting is remembered on restart

Title:
File manager does not remember "Show hidden files" option turned off
Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
On the newest Ubuntu (14.04), hidden files are always shown by
default. If the user unchecks "Show hidden files" -option from the
"Files" -> "Show" -menu, they will disappear, but will appear again
when "Files" -menu is displayed again. This never happened on Unity in
Ubuntu 12.04, and as far as I remember, in old Gnome, too.
