Title:
NVIDIA blue (aka smurf) video problem is still an issue on Ubuntu
  10.04 LTS

Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Video is still blue using NVIDIA cards on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

I have no idea how to fix this. The web is clogged with bad advice and
out-of-date solutions. Turning off hardware acceleration fixes the
issue but is a totally inadequate work around. The CPU gets insanely
hot and the fan screams like a dying child during video. The other
"solutions" floating around (like messing with the Flash config files)
don't seem to work, nor does updating to latest version of flash.

This is a top priority issue and it has been around for over a year
  now.
