I'm guessing that NVRM is the NVidia Register Mapper, though why it
might have issues with one of NVidia's most popular cards is beyond
me. I've tried a bunch of stuff and patiently waited for Lucid hoping
it might clear up these errrors. However, even after a clean install
of Lucid from the CD-ISO ( with format ), There errors persist.
Please advise on how to correctly enable my graphics card.
1) Release:
Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release: 10.04
Kernel: 2.6.32.-24-generic
2) Package:
nvidia-current 195.36.24-0ubuntu1-10.04
3&4) I expected the driver to be activated when X starts. Instead, I
get the above errors and dropped to low-res with the default-X
drivers. The nvidia driver does show up in 'Hardware Drivers' and
reports that it is active and currently in use. However, X fails to
initialize the card and use it.
