Title:
no X after upgrade to natty from 10.10 with nvidia-current
270.41.06/glx-185 - kernel-sources seem to be missing although
  installed

Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  ANAMNESIS
I upgraded the box from a running 10.10 today. Installation went through smoothly. After reboot I didn't have any X.

Via console and the help of some internet forums I reinstalled kernel
headers and sources (packages: linux-source, linux-generic, linux-
  headers-generic). While linux-sources (2.6.38.8.22) was not installed
automatically both of the other packages existed.

The logs said, that module 'nvidia' could not be loaded - trying to reinstall (apt-get install --reinstall nvidia-current - 270.41.06-0ubuntu1) or reconfigure (dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-current) package nvidia-current yields the following error message:
  Loading new nvidia-current-270.41.06 DKMS files....
  Building only for 2.6.38-8-generic-pae
Module build for the currently running kernel was skipped since the kernel source for this kernel does not seem to be installed.

  EXPECTED
  a) Package kernel-sources should be installed during system upgrade/update if necessary for proprietary UI-drivers. Update-manager did not warn about the possibility of 'loss of UI due to nvidia-packages' or something similar.
  b) Cannot reconfigure or reinstall nvidia-software to get X up'n'running. Service restart gdm/x11-common does not change anything.
