Title:
with nvidia redshift fails to detect need to use 'vidmode' over
  'randr'

Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in redshift package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
In 12.04 and earlier when running gtk-redshift on my nvidia-based
macbookpro it would correctly fail at randr, and then succeed at using
  vidmode.

With quantal, I have to explicitly choose vidmode. I believe this is
because randr is succeeding where it would have failed before as it
was basically disabled in 12.04 and earlier.
