[Bug 1242475] Re: Nautilus overwrites existing files when merging folders

Using Ubuntu Desktop 14.04.2 LTS, GNOME nautilus 3.10.1
I was using 2 instances of nautilus ("Files" as it it named...).
In one instance I copied a folder and in the other I pasted it.
The destination folder had a sub-folder that did not exist in the source folder.
The source folder had a subfolder that did not exist in the destination folder.
After the paste operation using the "Merge" option, the destination folder contained only what was in the source folder.
Everything else that used to be in the destination folder is gone.
The source folder was on my laptop's hard drive.
The destination folder was on my Samsung Android phone mounted via USB.
Nautilus crashed during the operation and a bug report was submitted today. (I think I clicked the right buttons...)
I tested the same operation using 2 folders on the local hard drive and it worked as expected.

Title:
Nautilus overwrites existing files when merging folders

Status in Nautilus:

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I am using Ubuntu 13.10 64bits.

When I drag and drop a folder from my primary internal hard drive to
my second internal hard drive that contains a folder containing files
with the same name than in the source folder, Nautilus prompts "Merge
  folder "folder1"?".

I check "Apply this action to all files" and click "Merge".

And now, Nautilus overwrites files with the same name in the
destination folder instead of prompting me if I want to skip copying
  existing files.

I have the same problem when copying a folder to an external hard
  drive.

This problem doesn't occur in Ubuntu 12.10 that I was using a few days
ago before upgrading to 13.10. It doesn't occur neither when merging
folders on the same hard drive. It only happens when the source folder
and the destination folder are on two different hard drives.

  ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/nautilus
  Package: nautilus
  Architecture: amd64
  Version: 1:3.8.2-0ubuntu2
  Linux 3.11.0-12-generic
