[Bug 1469313] Re: After installing hplip 3.15.6 printer is sometimes not recognized after reboot

FWIW I've completely removed hplip and removed the printer. Set it up
again using the CUPS interface:

Description:	HP LaserJet 1020
Location:
Driver:	HP LaserJet 1020 Foomatic/foo2zjs-z1 (recommended) (grayscale, 2-sided printing)
Connection:	usb://HP/LaserJet%201020?serial=JL1F0DC
Defaults:	job-sheets=none, none media=na_letter_8.5x11in sides=one-sided

It is working fine.

Title:
After installing hplip 3.15.6 printer is sometimes not recognized
  after reboot

Status in hplip package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
HPLIP was automatically updated on 11 June 2015. During the upgrade
instructions were carefully followed however at the end the printer
was not recognized. The upgrade was attempted again and it was then
noted that it was required to turn off then on the printer for it be
be recognized at the end of the install. Today, 26 June 2015 after a
reboot caused by a video freeze the printer was not recognized
(firmware was not downloaded during boot as usual) and running hp-
setup shows printer not recognized even after turning the printer off
then on several times and also unplugging and replugging it in to the
usb port. I have not yet gone through these steps:

=> Run the command "hp-uninstall" to cleanly uninstall HPLIP. Remove
  plug-ins too when prompted.

=> Install the latest (or already downloaded 3.15.2 run file)

=> Remove all the existing queues by running the command "hp-setup -r"

=> Re-configure the queue by running the command "hp-setup". This step
will also prompt for installing the plugin. Follow the prompts to
  install the plugins.

=> Try printing to the queue named HP_LaserJet_1020

After going through all the steps above the printer is again
functional. Note: during the step to install the hp driver besides
unplugging and replugging in the usb cable I have to additionally turn
the printer off and on. Once this is done the driver installs
  correctly.
