[Bug 1464676] Re: USB connection to Lumia phones does not work in Ubuntu 14.10 and 15.04

Hi,

I'm preparing the Debian package for version 2.5.8, so I'm checking the
bugs.

At the beginning has a link to gphoto2's bug report at sourceforge. That bug is
closed-fixed (2014)

This bug, at LaunchPad.net can be closed ?

regards,
Herbert

Title:
USB connection to Lumia phones does not work in Ubuntu 14.10 and 15.04

Status in libgphoto2 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm having problems connecting my Lumia 930 phone (Windows phone 8.1)
to Ubuntu Gnome 14.10. When plugging the USB cable, the device shows
up on the desktop (there is a camera icon with the name of the phone),
so it is to be detected correctly. Another user reported the same
  problem with Ubuntu 15.04.

I have also access to Xubuntu 14.04. The phone works fine with that.

This seems to be caused by a regression in the version 2.5.4 of
libgphoto2 that is used in 14.10 and 15.04. (14.04 uses an older
version that is not affected.) The regression is fixed in later
versions of gphoto2, at least in 2.5.6 which I tested. There is a bug
on the tracker for gphoto2, which is related:

  http://sourceforge.net/p/gphoto/bugs/975/

It is originally about another problem, but at the end they discuss
  this same issue.
