Title:
excessive lag after typing password to switch from gdm to gnome on
Ubuntu 10.10 x64
Status in gdm package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gdm
After login in, Ubuntu stays displaying the wallpaper for a long time before displaying the gnome desktop.
Some people stated it is related to Ubuntu trying to find the floppy disk, and they also said the problem can be solved by disabling the floppy disk from the BIOS. The problem is that my notebook does not have either the floppy disk, nor the option to disable it.
