On Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" it still only renders if zoomed below
50%.

evince 3.14.2-0ubuntu2
poppler 0.30.0-0ubuntu1

  Binary package hint: evince

  Tried to open the attached pdf. Thumbnail shows but main window
  doesn't display correctly.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1) Open attachment in Evince

  Expected result:
  PDF displays correctly. Main window shows larger version of thumbnail

  Actual result:
  Only the thumbnail is rendered correctly
