No, it was closed for a reason. You need to install latest updates or
migrate to a supported stack (lts-utopic stack from 14.10 is no longer
supported, apart from the kernel)

Bug description:
Quite often the characters in GUI menus(e.g. WiFi dropdown, Calendar dropdown) and terminal become garbled, unreadable and/or missing. In the same time all is OK in e.g. browser. It often happens after resume, but sometimes during normal operation. After a while(1-2-...10 minutes) the problem is gone.
Steps to take: normal Ubuntu 14.04 install
What happens: after resume or normal operation symbols is top row GUI menus become garbled and unreadable
What should happen: graphics should be stable
