I have the same issue. Confirmed that the issue is resolved with
Evolution 3.16. Linked to Debian and Evolution bugs.

Bug description:
  Hello

  since some days (tuesday, at least), each mail sent with evolution and
  containing an attachment file in PDF format is not really sent. It is
  saved into my SENT box but it is not really sent (no recipient
  receives the message).

  I do some tests with different file formats and the problem seems to
  appear only with PDF files (new or old files). The size of the files
  seems to play no role in the problem.

  My config:
  - ubuntu 15.04 64 bits
  - evolution 3.12.11
  - gnome
