Title:
nautilus/nemo crashes when changing the wallpaper

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in nemo package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Nautilus very often crashes when I change the wallpaper in System
Settings -> Appearance. Sometimes it crashes immediately, other times
only after changing the wallpaper then switching between different
work-spaces. Nautilus also crashes every few hours when the time-
  cycling Community wallpapers is enabled.

Nemo shows the exact same behavior.

When running Nautilus or Nemo from the terminal, an error similar to
  the following is spat out:

(nautilus:23530): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'nautilus' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)'.
    (Details: serial 10509 error_code 9 request_code 62 (core protocol) minor_code 0)
    (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
  Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)
