Title:
  thunderbird as preferred e-mail client refers to the wrong location
  after a system update

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

  I selected thunderbird as my default e-mail client from the gnome
  "preferred applications" control dialog. I also tried setting the
  filename explicitly to /usr/bin/thunderbird.

  After a system update that includes an update of tb (say from version
  3.0.6 to 3.0.10), the filename in the "preferred applications" control
  dialog still points to the old location:
  /usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.9/thunderbird "%s"

  I have to open the "preferred applications" control dialog and set the
  mail client to tb again which is an easily avoidable annoyance.

  Why do you recolve symbolic links in that dialog? Why not simply use
  /usr/bin/thunderbird?

  I use ubuntu 10.04.1.
