Title:
empathy uses proxy when it shouldn't
Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: empathy
Empathy is trying to connect to the Windows Live (MSN) service through
the proxy, but the system proxy settings only apply to HTTP and FTP.
Other applications respect this, but Empathy is trying to tunnel port
1863 (MSNP) through Squid. It therefore fails.
There is no way to set proxy settings within the app and adding
messenger.hotmail.com to the ignore hosts makes no difference
whatsoever.
