Title:
No 4.2.* kernel can access internet using a Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411
nic
Status in Linux:
Fix Released
Status in network-manager-applet package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Has been reported to Bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104411
The attached debugging files are from a working 4.1.7 kernel and can
be ignored as to the actual problem(used to only activate the
bugreporting functionality, as its impossible to use the faulting 4.2
kernel since it has no internet).
The problem with no internet access at all "no network" is valid for
all 4.2.* kernels from the Ubuntu Team, all other kernels works just
fine. I've Googled the problem and at least it has been acknowledged
by the Archlinux community, which has released a dkms-patch for self
compiling a working kernel. I would really like this to be fixed asap,
this is a very common nic on gaming oriented mainboards.
Possibly it has something to do with licensing, as kernel 4.2 had big
problems with Nvidia drivers until someone released a patch and it got
incorporated into kernel team kernels.
I'm running Wily Daily 64-bit, fully updated
