Title:
[xmir] Screen stops updating after unplugging second monitor

Status in Mir:
  Invalid
Status in Unity System Compositor:
  Invalid
Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
On unplugging the second monitor the remaining monitor flashes and
seems to half update (half the launcher is shown with a white
background) and the screen will not update further. Switching to VT
(ctrl alt F1) and back refreshes the screen, showing full launcher and
wallpaper, but it will not update further. I can't see any errors in
the logs. unity-system-compositor process is still running.

I am running with the workaround for bug #1222602
  (MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=1.4).

The failure is consistent every time.
